These Introductory Mindfulness Courses are open for everyone and anyone interested in practicing and training in Mindfulness. This course offers and excellent foundation for understanding and practising Mindfulness Meditation both in a direct practical way and also within a group setting. This Course can be an insight for many in cultivating a different kind of relationship (based on acceptance, kindness and letting go) with oneself and others.

MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION PROGRAMME
MBSR is a non-religious, systematic and manualised 8 week training course which uses mindfulness meditation skills and techniques to best deal with stress, chronic pain and indeed any form of psychological or physical dis-ease.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
Mindfulness is an approach to living rather than a technique. It is about living in the present moment, about being more awake and alive to our lives rather than operating from a sort of‘automatic pilot’ in which we can be cut off from aspects of our experience.
Mindfulness promotes a way of being that helps us approach our present predicament with
kindness and compassion, and is applicable over a range of conditions including stress, anxiety, depression and pain.

Mindfulness Teacher:
Dr. Avinash (Vajrahridaya) is a qualified medical GP from India with 15 years experience of practice and training in mindfulness meditation, and 6 years experience of living and working in meditation retreat centres in the UK.
During this time Dr Avinash facilitated retreat group workshops in mindfulness meditation, gradually moving on to a full time teaching role in Edinburgh.
Dr Avinash completed mindfulness teacher training courses with the University of Wales and has led courses for NHS patients, Scottish Executive staff and also for individuals.
Dr Avinash is currently further developing his mindfulness training by both reviewing and conducting research in mindfulness meditation at the University of Wales.
